Easy to Install

As easy to install as a conventional electric system. There is no need for complicated or expensive ‘special plumbing’ work to be carried out. No solar panels are required. The unit is installed at ground level, not on the roof, thereby not imposing any large additional weight on the roof. The unit can be installed in less than two hours!

 

How a Quantum Heat Pumps works

A Quantum heat pump is a patented system whereby heat from the ambient air is absorbed by an environmentally friendly refrigerant in the evaporator. This refrigerant gas is then compressed, which causes the gas’s temperature and pressure to be raised. This hot gas is passed through tubes wrapped around the outside of the water tank as the condenser. Heat is then transferred from the tubes to the water inside the tank.

Once the heat from the compressed gas has been transferred to the water in the tank, the gas changes state as it has transferred its heat to water. This cooled gas then passes through an expansion device (TX valve) and back to the evaporator. The cycle is then repeated until the water in the storage tank reaches the preset temperature.

The Quantum heat pump’s efficiency stems from the fact that only minimal electricity is required for the compressor, fan and digital display panel. It works in temperatures from as low as -10°C up to 40°C, both day and night and very efficiently, without the need for boosting and only Quantum can do that!

 

 

The Quantum heat Pump principle is simple and can be compared to a refrigerator, but in reverse. It extracts latent energy from the air and transfers it to the heating system. This free energy from the environment is converted into useful heat to heat the water. In other words, you are using free energy from the environment that doesn’t cost a cent, while at the same time reducing your carbon footprint.

Solar Requirements

The heat pump does not rely on direct sunlight for its operation. Due to its advanced techology, the unit will produce hot water in all weather conditions, even at night; it simply absorbs heat energy from the environment. The Quantum Compact can be located in any external location around the building. It definitely does not need to "face north" in order collect solar energy like conventional Flat Plate Solar units.

 

Aesthetics

As the heat pump does not use any panels, it cannot be damaged by heavy hail, as the glass panels of a conventional Flat Plate solar hot water system often can be. The hot water storage tank is installed at ground level, thereby providing ease of maintenance and not imposing any additional weight on the roof. With a Quantum heat pump there is no need for those unsightly frames, which tilt the collectors to the required vertical angles, which conventional Solar Flat Plate solar require

 

Durability

In cold climates, some Flat Plate Solar collectors suffer severe damage from frost. Because the Quantum Compact has no panels there is absolutely no risk of damage from freezing. The evaporator coil on the Quantum Compact is specially coated to protect it from corrosion, which helps to keep your Quantum running at peak efficiency over its long operational life.

 

Costs

The Quantum heat pump has no gas or electric "booster element" in the tank as required in conventional Flat Plate Solar units. The low cost of running the compressor in a Quantum means that the heat pump can actually be more economical to run than a conventional Flat Plate Solar water heater.

As heat pumps do not require roof panels to be installed, the installation process is far less costly and time consuming.
